ON Artificial Intelligence, Science & Technology, and Liberty

Welcome friends,

IT is a great pleasure to convey my great esteem for each and every person's easy attention to this public letter. This letter is a message of goodwill toward all. And an appreciative note recognizing the efforts of experts, fans and practitioners in the fields of artificial intelligence, science & technology.

Perhaps you will find a familiarity in my own storytelling around these subjects, and take to heart the reality of the situation the letter's message is developed throughout.

Mankind's curiosity and industry has produced many marvels improving quality of life and providing enhanced creature comforts to multitudes.

From the age of nomadic primitives' use of ingenuity to improve their methods of securing water, shelter, and game, to the present times of widespread tool use, inspired individuals working alone or in groups have innovated.

Today we enjoy common luxuries such as indoor plumbing, refrigeration, cars, air travel, computers, plenty & abundant apparel, food, and services diffused, available, and often made accessible to the beggarly poor at little to no cost.

This happy result extends throughout cities, towns, and villages of nearly every nation's Body General. Wherever members of the public have gathered in any timeworn commerce have essential & various marvels springing from mankind's inclinations for affection, beauty, challenge, and deed appeared to improve many's living conditions & literacy.

Is it so for you, as it is for myself, that the word "Technology" brings to mind electronic devices & gadgets? I note the bow and arrow, the weaver's loom, indoor plumbing, and so on for non-electronic inventions are also technologies.

It is believed by many linguists the ancient root of the word "science" is a verb belonging to an ancient language which means, 'to cut'. As in a knife may be used to carve a ham. The scientific method is a process based on a continuity of trial experiments designed to test a scientific prediction. "Negative" results mean a particular experiment's scientific prediction did not pan out.

The "Negative" result in a well-design experiment serves as evidence against the experiment's attached scientific prediction in a specific and repeatable way. Thereby allowing the scientific understanding to "cut away", and bring apart, making separate what experiment has shown does not work.

A.I., an acronym for "Artificial Intelligence", in its present form, is the product of decade's accumulation of work relating to computer hardware and machine learning algorithms.

Innovation in fuzzy logics, probabilistic methods, computer software & hardware architecture (especially at their interaction as co-embedded design) has produced silicon-based machines capable of prolix, verbose output on any and every topic known to man.

The A.I. is most valuable as an Information Processing Engine.

A.I. performs very well as a natural language-wielded Information Processing Appliance. Just as someone uses their hand to wield a hammer, we can use natural language to command and query the computer. The power of well-used A.I. as an instrument of Information Processing is as great as word processing software to manuscripts.

What a substantial fruit has been borne out from the labor and mind involved in modern A.I. technology!

The benefits to education and scientific research to be enjoyed by mankind in just the next generation of students are of incalculable value to future society.

We can expect more featureful and slick software applications, advances in materials, more accurate diagnosis of medical maladies, chemistry to present novel substances for use in medicinal palliatives, cures, treatments, and outside of the human body, new solutions for handicraft and industry.

In its current form artificial intelligence is a powerful tool for discovering information that is relevant to your query and news to you.

A.I. combines an encyclopedic knowledge spanning across every field of the natural sciences and human endeavor with a sophisticated mechanism permitting the machine to generate information and present responses such that we, the users of an A.I., get to the information we desire.

Sometimes we learn something we didn't expect to along the way. A great way to lead the A.I. through the rabbit hole is with the prompt part, "Focus on the part 'x' of the topic when developing your response."

We can each, individually, make use of modern technology to learn, and plan, and make things. Everything from planning windowsill herb gardens to new discoveries in science and mathematics.

Many people are finding their own interest- and situation-specific use of A.I. in the areas of household budgeting & savings, homecooking tips, gardening advice, business owners reviewing their finances, product strategy, and tax strategy.

People are finding cures that are known, but hard to find even after 30 years of Google Search. A.I. also works well for creating workout plans and as a plug for gaining pertinent information relating to any hobby, job, or field of human endeavor a person can imagine.

An amazing amount of basic science, engineering, and person efforts have gone into building today's technology, and from that work everyone, sooner or later, is going to enjoy some benefit or another from an A.I.-enhanced product or service.

Each artificial intelligence model is not only a techno-electronic marvel.

Each of the general use A.I. models is trained and scripted as to how to formulate its responses to users. The software is programmed with the words to use and the words to avoid using. Artists and authors building A.I. craft template personalities, and topic-specific short books that act like manuals for the A.I. to fill-in-the-blanks & mad-lib from when generating responses to one of us.

And so let's praise both the scientific and artistic contributors to the bringing forth of a new major technology and molding it so as to make interacting with A.I. a tolerable & even enjoyable experience.

Altogether of advent of accessible machine intelligence promises improvements in convenience, living conditions, and productivity.

Nonetheless with every advance in technology comes challenges.

Today is the first time in known history during which a person may confuse a tool for a counselor, guru, or master!

Along with the unique dangers associated with talking machines there are the attendant effects of new technologies in the creation and loss of job.

Meaning with the benefits of A.I., there are also challenges.

In fact, we are also facing a threat.

Multiple threats. The interests of capital would have their robots swarming out streets, clogging sidewalks, places of business and even our skies. Machines lurking, snooping on every interaction you have with or even nearby a computer, phone, camera, microphone, or other device.

As capital and private demand naturally incline to produce and distribute the new technology, other interests come in with agendas to surveil the people & tyrannize our lives.

In efforts to satisfy insatiable appetites for control, or their briber, and those carrying attitudes allied with a type of moribund, rote order of the status quo, our governments around the world are rapidly taking away our own, and our children's futures.

Right now we can see the legislature fail to block or repeal a law forcing automobile manufacturers to place Kill Switches operable autonomously by an on board computer, and also operable remotely with no option to drive the vehicle if the Kill Switch is engaged.

Notice the legislation puts an outside party (the car company, the government) cameras and microphones into your property. Your car.

A one-way pair of camera & microphone forced into your life in order to stifle your liberty on command of an outside party.

A one-way information harvesting device with unilateral control over whether or not you can drive your own vehicle.

You can't drive the vehicle on your own terms today "because you look drunk". You want to drive outside of your 10 mile travel zone "Its bad for the environment to move around too much. Carbon footprint. What are you a malefactor?". Kill Switch Engaged.

Members of the American Government's legislature, and the legislature itself has therefore proposed and passed into law of "future effect" a slave collar for your property, and for your freedom of movement. An illegal law that is nullified by the Constitution - the general government of the United States of America has no authority to pass laws under guise of public good and welfare.

The reason no part of the American Government has such an authority to pass laws for the public good being this exact scenario of slave collaring their citizens and their freedom of movement. Your Founding Fathers were aware. Now you are too.

I said there are multiple threats.

Every major A.I. provider is participating in a pattern of data retention. They're training on every common and uncommon customer's inputs to their machines. Appropriating any innovative methods designed by customers for utilizing the underlying technology. Appropriating and integrating our future Einstein's work into the AI before he gets to finish his work or publish or receive the monetary value of his works.

Today, a real Einstein wouldn't do any work at all; he literally has to pay A.I. companies to steal his work in today's environment. The A.I. Corporates are aligned with a terminal condition for humanity as an intelligent and self-respecting species. That terminal condition is widespread theft of user inputs, and retention of data, the latter's only possible utility being in service of political powers, the next Hitler, etc.

The progress made in computer technology promises us great benefits in education, convenience, and industry. And there are forces with an interest in the negative - overly coddling types, the greedy, the naive utopian - all of whom for misplaced ideal or for a dollar are motivated to use the growing technological sensory footprint for control, surveillance, and theft of other's persons and property.

Forces as I just finished describing are at work during our own lives. And they will be at work to threaten liberty during our next generation's time, working to claw away at freedom from tyranny and oppression in public and private settings.

All Americans know of the tools we have through our government. One of which is to elect representatives that defend and promote our liberties truth, and vigorously.

I invite private people in business and conversation, public representatives and other officials to work in two ways: Against the passage of additional law that opens up the avenues for those in power nor or in the future to destroy people they don't like. And to work For laws that halt and prevent government's ability to lawfully participation the roll out of tools and data-fuel dedicated to theft, suppression and control.
