Some Experience To Share Following A Business Networking Meetup
The day is mighty fine.
figured out some things during a meet up. Was a bunch of management types. The more hands on type of professional with smidges of technical knowledge whose main office is in coordinating the overall product and its evolution overtime.
What did I get more clarity about?
In striking up conversation,
You must have the part of theory of mind. Good social sense.
What is is that there are egos. Not measuring your own ability to their ability is crucial. People have their brains going.
So they do not respond well to anything along the lines of, "I am or I have (vastly) more skill in what you demonstrated..." instead of trying to open a way that puts a sort of onus on them to overlooking their own inferior on some comparative skill or ability, which does not work for their edification (their ego response).
Instead, use a self-serving story of your own. The craft of the story is itself also fraught with danger. However their ego response is going to be on their side; just do not make the story:
1. Pitiful
2. Pure brag.
Do make a story that they may be able to take as in-line with some virtue of perseverance, overcoming, a team or group's success, & concludes with opening a path.
This entry amounts to relationship building guidance, particularly, avoiding arousing ego defenses in your new acquaintance-level relationship.
